The Farragut Admirals eliminated all challengers in the inaugural TSSAA Class 4A State Tournament and came away as STATE CHAMPIONS!! The Admirals scored 3 huge runs in the top of the 7th inning on Eli Evans’s double down the left field line and held on for the victory against the Houston Mustangs!! Jaxson Pease pitched an absolute gem on the mound, going the distance to earn the win. Pease allowed five hits and one run over seven innings, striking out five. Pease was 10-0 on the 2022 season.

The game was tied at one with Farragut (30-11-1) batting in the top of the seventh when Eli Evans doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring three runs.

Houston evened things up at one in the bottom of the sixth inning when Donavan Mitchell doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Dean McCalla took the loss for Houston. The pitcher surrendered one run on three hits over four innings, striking out three and walking one.

Farragut racked up seven hits. Evans and Mark Underwood each managed multiple hits. Evans went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Farragut Admirals Varsity in hits.

There will be further updates to this or perhaps a new article when I’ve rested up a bit. Thanks to all that listened to Erik Gerhardt and me on WFIV FM105.3 wfiv.com for all four state tournament games!! And thanks for your positive comments!!!
