Farragut claimed its 18th Region 2AAA title since 1999 with a stirring come-from-behind victory over the Powell Panthers on Wednesday night. The game was played at Powell as the Panthers earned the right to host the game as the District 3AAA champions. Farragut reclaimed the lead in the top of the 7th inning, scoring 3 runs in an 8-6 victory. The game was tied at six with Farragut Admirals Varsity batting in the top of the seventh when Lukas Buckner singled on a 0-1 count, scoring the go-ahead run.

Farragut Admirals Varsity collected 13 hits and Powell had five in the high-scoring affair.

Powell got things moving in the first inning, scoring 3 runs on a wild pitch, passed ball, and a fielding error. The Admirals got back in the game with single runs in the second and third innings, and took the lead with a 3-run fourth inning.

Jaxson Pease earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Farragut. The righty pitched the final inning and one-third, allowing no runs on no hits, striking out two and walking none. Carson Mitchell started the game for Farragut. Mitchell went two-thirds of an inning, allowing three runs on two hits. Michael Delph (3.1 innings) and Angus Pence (1.2 innings) entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Logen Sutton took the loss for Powell. The hurler surrendered three runs on five hits over two innings, striking out five and walking none. 

Powell hit two home runs on the day. Logan Poteet had a four bagger in the fifth inning. Sutton followed with a dinger in the fifth inning. The homers were back-to-back and gave Powell the lead as the game moved to the sixth inning.

Farragut Admirals Varsity scattered 13 hits in the game. Pence, Parker Evans, and Buckner all managed multiple hits.

The Admirals return home Friday at 6:30 to host the Seymour Eagles with a State tournament berth on the line. The game will be broadcast on WUCPLP FM99.9. Better yet, get out to the Ballpark at Farragut and help our Admirals return to Murfreesboro!!!
