Farragut defeated Heritage 10-0 on Sunday, May 8, in the Admirals’ opening game in the 2022 D4 4A Tournament, as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout, the Admirals fourth shutout in its last 5 games. The game had been delayed from its scheduled Saturday start due to Friday’s rain. Jaxson Pease earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Farragut, surrendering no runs on two hits over four innings, striking out five and walking none. Eli Evans came on to pitch the 5th inning, saving pitches for Pease for games later in the tournament.

The Admirals (21-11-1, 8-2 D4 4A)broke on top in the bottom of the second inning, when Eli Evans led off with a double. After walks issued to Garrett Brewer and Jack Alley, Jake Merrick’s sacrifice brought home the first Admiral run. Mark Underwood reached on an error to continue the inning, and Lukas Buckner brought in the second Admiral run on his single. With the bases loaded, Brennon Seigler’s triple cleared the bases giving the Admirals a 5-0 lead they wouldn’t surrender.

Farragut smacked one home run on the day. Jake Merrick had a long ball in the fourth inning, adding to the Admirals lead.

Farragut Admirals Varsity tallied nine hits in the game. Evans, Mark Underwood, and Jett Johnston all managed multiple hits for Farragut Admirals Varsity.
