Four runs batted in from Lukas Buckner helped lead Farragut past Maryville 11-1 on Tuesday in D4AAA District Tournament action. The Rebels had earned the right to play the Admirals when they eliminated Heritage 10-6 in an afternoon game. Having to play 5 games in 5 days took its toll on Rebel pitching, and they just couldn’t keep pace with Farragut.

Buckner drove in runs on a single in the second, a single in the third, and a single in the fourth.

Farragut secured the victory thanks to six runs in the second inning. Eli Evans, Buckner, Bryce Burkey, and Tanner Kim each had RBIs in the big inning.

Jaxson Pease led the Admirals to victory on the mound. Pease surrendered one run on three hits over five innings, striking out five.

Farragut totaled ten hits in the game. Evans, Buckner, and Burkey all had multiple hits.  The Admirals were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error, and were led by a couple of sterling defensive plays by Parker Evans at third base.

The Admirals look to avenge Monday’s loss the HVA Hawks in Wednesday’s 4:30 first championship game, and hope to force a second, winner-take-all game. The good news for the Admirals is that Tuesday’s win earns a trip to next week’s Region 2 tournament. The Admirals have gained the Region tournament 21 of the last 22 years, not counting 2020; the only year missed was a District 4 tournament loss in 2007.
