Farragut took the lead late in the game in a 3-2 victory over the 4-seed Bearden Bulldogs in the D4AAA District Tournament on Saturday. The game was tied at two with the Admirals (30-4, 13-1 D4AAA) batting in the bottom of the fifth when Parker Evans led off the inning with a single. Following Bryce Burkey’s strikeout and Tanner Kim’s single, Angus Pence moved both runners up with an infield groundout. Parker Evans scampered home with what proved to be the winning run on a wild pitch during Jake Dallas’s at-bat. Dallas was a last-second substitution for the injured Hudson Seigler.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Senior Admiral hurler Hunter Merrick allowed three hits and two runs in going the distance, striking out eight. Bearden pitchers sat down six. Merrick retired the final 9 batters and 12 of the final 13 he faced, allowing only a 4th-inning double.

Farragut fired up the offense in the second inning. Eli Evans grounded out into a double play but still was able to knock in one run.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Farragut tied things up at two. Brennon Seigler’s sac fly scored one run. Pence and Dallas had singled earlier in the inning. Seigler’s sac drove in Pence.

Lukas Buckner, Parker Evans, Angus Pence, Hudson Seigler, Dallas, and Tanner Kim each collected one hit to lead Farragut Admirals Varsity.

The Admirals advance in the D4AAA tournament to the winner’s bracket final to host the HVA Hawks on Monday, 5/10/21, 7:00pm. That game will follow an elimination game between Bearden and Heritage, and will be broadcast on WUCPLP FM99.9 with Chris Low on the call.
