Farragut took a giant leap in the D4AAAA race by taking the lead late in the game in a 2-1 victory over Hardin Valley Academy on Tuesday. The game was tied at one with the Admirals batting in the top of the seventh when Jack Alley singled on a 1-1 count, scoring the go-ahead run.

Alley’s big hit was preceded by Jake Merrick’s one-out double to left and Garrett Brewer’s RBI double to right field. Alley’s single drove in Jonathan Venero, running for Brewer.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Senior Jaxson Pease struck out four, while HVA’s Adam Baker sat down two.

Pease earned the victory on the hill for Farragut (15-8, 6-1 D4AAAA) . The righthander surrendered one run on five hits over seven innings, striking out four. He retired 3 of 4 batters in the bottom of the 7th to secure the victory.

Jake Merrick, Brennon Seigler, Garrett Brewer, Alley, and Landis Davila were hitters for the Admirals.
