Both pitching staffs had their hands full on Friday in a high-scoring affair where Farragut Admirals bested Rabun Gap-Nacoochee Eagles Varsity, 8-6. The game was played as part of the Bradley Central Invitational Tournament.

Farragut Admirals (7-1) fired up the offense in the first inning.  Luke Earnhardt threw a wild pitch allowing one run across the plate for Farragut Admirals.

In the bottom of the third inning, Farragut Admirals tied things up at three when Jett Johnston drew a walk, scoring one run.

Farragut Admirals pulled away for good with two runs in the fourth inning.  In the fourth Cooper Schulze singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Rabun Gap-Nacoochee Eagles Varsity scored three runs in the second inning.  Rabun Gap-Nacoochee Eagles Varsity’s big inning was driven by home runs by Dylan Alonso and Brady Roulier.

Matt Heflin led things off on the mound for Farragut Admirals. The pitcher went two innings, allowing three runs on four hits, striking out five and walking zero.

Earnhardt toed the rubber for Rabun Gap-Nacoochee Eagles Varsity. The southpaw allowed five hits and five runs over four innings, striking out five.  Lewis Rodriguez threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Rabun Gap-Nacoochee Eagles Varsity socked two home runs on the day. Alonso put one out in the second inning. Roulier had a four bagger in the second inning.

Farragut Admirals tallied seven hits on the day.  Lukas Buckner and Schulze each managed multiple hits for Farragut Admirals.  Buckner led Farragut Admirals with three hits in three at bats.  Farragut Admirals didn’t commit a single error in the field. Schulze had  15 chances in the field, the most on the team.

The Admirals open the 2023 District 4-4A campaign on Monday with a game at Hardin Valley Academy at 6:00pm.
