Garrett Brewer was the hero of Wednesday night’s victory over the Jefferson County Patriots at the Ballpark at Farragut in the Smoky Bear/Demarini Invitational opener.

The game was tied at four with Farragut Admirals Varsity batting in the bottom of the seventh when Brewer singled on a 1-0 count, scoring the winning run. Eli Evans started the inning with an HBP, Landis Davila walked, and Cooper Schulze laid a perfect bunt down the 3rd baseline to load the bases. Mark Underwood singled, scoring Ellis Gleed, pinch-running for Evans. That set up Garrett Brewer, batting in the 9th spot in the order, to provide the heroics.

Farragut Admirals Varsity earned the victory despite allowing Jefferson County to score four runs in the first inning. Jefferson County scored 3 runs on a home run by Tanner Franklin.

Eli Miller took the win. The righty allowed one hit and no runs over three innings, striking out one.

Stratton Scott started the game. The righthander went four innings, allowing four runs on three hits and striking out seven.

Lukas Buckner and Mark Underwood each had two hits for the Admirals.

The Admirals continue in the Smoky Bear/Demarini Invitational Thursday at 7:00 hosting the Bartlett Panthers.
